Guilt

Guilt:

The most disturbing, one of the most powerful feelings humanity connects to.
All encompassing. All enveloping.

The moment it hits you, its like being carried off by a strong wave at sea. Especially, when you don't know to swim.
You've been swept off your feet, enveloped in the chaos. A grave. No way to crawl out of this one.
You see the light up there, streaming through the water, but do not know how to make for it.
Clutching at thin straws of reasoning, desperately thinking you might stay afloat holding onto them.

But, you can't...

it gnaws at you. Eats you. Engulfs you, Consumes you. You feel out of breath, reach out gasping for air where none is to be found. It's a watery grave, remember?
And then, you lose. That last bit of hope you were so desperately clutching onto.
You let go.

Somewhere, while drowning, it hits you. Something much more powerful than that first wave which triggered this descent.
You did it out of sheer selfishness.
Greed, maybe. Maybe not.
Selfishness nonetheless.
